Acknowledging the Good in Our Lives

Gooooood morning, friends! Just wanted to jump on here quickly and talk about something that I've been pretty intentional about lately in my own life. I've been trying to do it each day- whether it be in the morning while I'm journaling or at night to myself or randomly in the middle of the day- acknowledging the things I am thankful for in my life. We are programed to focus on the negative things in our life, when no matter how bad things are, there is always, always some good in there too. It's up to us to focus on finding that silver lining in the midst of life's challenges and to identify and be grateful for the good things that we have. It is amazing how this mindset shift can really impact your day and help you transition from directing all of your energy towards the negatives in your life. Every day, I will tell myself, write them out, text them to my boyfriend, or jot them in a note on my phone. It may go something like this,

Today I am thankful for...

  1. My abilities

  2. My health and the health of my family and friends

  3. Quiet mornings

  4. A safe place to call home

  5. "Me" time to refocus, recharge, and reenergize myself

It doesn't have to be long or wordy or deep or profound. The important thing is that you are acknowledging them and bringing them to life per se. The small things in life are actually the big things and when we can acknowledge them and give our energy and attention to them, it can help to shift our mindset. Remember that this is a journey, not a destination. Doing it once isn't going to change your life, but the practice of it and being consistent with it (just as with anything we do) can lead to big, positive changes in ourselves.

I hope each of you has an awesome Sunday, no matter what it brings! Today is the only day you can do anything about, so go out there and make it a great one!
